ANFIIDE internationally

ANFIIDE is the only French association that is a member of the International Council of Nurses. It has held its seat without interruption since 1925.

In 1925, a year after its founding, the association joined the International Council of Nurses at the Helsinki congress. Marie Léonie Chaptal, its founder, went on to preside over the ICN from 1929 to 1933.

This unbroken century-long presence gives the French nursing profession a direct voice in international bodies — and gives the association a reach on that ground that no other French organisation has.

ANFIIDE's international engagement takes different forms depending on the organisation: full membership of the International Council of Nurses and of the European Federation of Nurses Associations, and participation in the work of the European forum convened alongside the World Health Organization.

International Council of Nurses — ICNA member since 1925, and the only French association represented. Two delegates are mandated to the Council of National Representatives. Marie Léonie Chaptal served as its President from 1929 to 1933.European Federation of Nurses Associations — EFNANFIIDE is the member organisation for France and puts forward the French position on European matters.SIDIIEFSIDIIEF, the international secretariat of French-speaking nurses, bringing the profession together across French-speaking countries and regions.EFNNMA — European forum alongside WHOEuropean Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations: the forum bringing national nursing and midwifery associations together alongside the WHO Regional Office for Europe. ANFIIDE takes part in its work; this is not membership of the World Health Organization.
