ANFIIDE — Éclairer la profession, transformer la santé

Our work

ANFIIDE in France

Recognised as serving the public interest since 1932, ANFIIDE carries the voice of the nursing profession to French institutions, contributes to public consultations and works with the country's professional and scientific organisations.

The association's work in France takes three forms: contributing to public consultations and official work, working alongside professional and scientific organisations, and being present at the profession's major events.

It rests on volunteer professionals, in active practice, drawn from every field of the discipline — which grounds its positions directly in practice.

Contributing to public work

ANFIIDE responds to consultations that shape the future of the profession and takes part in institutional work. It contributed to the national Ségur de la Santé consultations in 2020, and to the work of the Haut Conseil de la santé publique on the role of carers in prevention in 2018.

Its position statements are published: they commit the association, and must be open to discussion.

Working with the profession

The association works with French professional and scientific organisations: ANFIPA for advanced practice, the Académie des sciences infirmières for research, AFEDI for nursing classifications, ANISP for firefighter nurses, SPS for support to health professionals in difficulty, and the Collège Infirmier Français, which brings together professionals from every sector of practice.

It takes part in the profession's gatherings — congresses, study days and national conventions — where the organisation of care and the future of the occupation are debated.

A presence also carried by its board members

Several board members also hold office in national bodies of the profession: the presidency of the Collège Infirmier Français, the current and a former presidency of the Conseil national professionnel infirmier, the presidency of the Conseil national professionnel des infirmiers anesthésistes, and a former vice-presidency of the Conseil national de l'Ordre infirmier, the French nursing council.

These are personal appointments: they do not commit ANFIIDE. They do, however, say something about how deeply its members are involved in the national structuring of the profession.
