ANFIIDE celebrates 100 years

Founded in 1924, the association celebrated its centenary in June 2024 in Marseille, surrounded by institutions and professional nursing organisations.
ANFIIDE is one hundred years old. The association was established in 1924 under the name Association nationale des infirmières diplômées de l'État français, at the initiative of Léonie Chaptal, and its creation was published in the Journal officiel that same year. It was recognised as a public-interest association in 1932 — the first French nursing association to be so recognised.
On 22 June 2024, the association brought together representatives of institutions and professional organisations in Marseille to mark this centenary. The day took the form of a journey through a century of structuring the profession: education, research, practice, and the place of nurses in French and international bodies.
A hundred years of professional history are not celebrated merely for the sake of memory. What ANFIIDE championed in 1924 — recognised education, a protected title, organised professional voice — remains the thread of its work today.
